The word Jiu Jitsu means “gentle art” because it has the principle of giving in to win, using the opponent's weight and strength against him. The concept of this martial art is to allow a weaker practitioner to dominate a stronger one, which requires the most efficient use of mental and physical energies. The objective of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is to dominate the opponent, however the basic principle is self defense.
